Jochen Schmiddem completed a training as a carpenter. He studied painting & sculpture before he started his studies in product design at Haspel in Wuppertal, completing it in 1992. He already worked on numerous orders during his study period. He is represented internationally with his paintings and has presented his work in Tokyo among other places. In 1992, Schmiddem received an offer by Phoenix Design. 6 years of highly interesting design processes followed. In 1997, Schmiddem established his office in Berlin. To Jochen Schmiddem, design is a calling. Not a job but a living passion. It is the small things to him, that turn a product into an experience.
