Jean-Charles Le Lay
Interior designer Pont-l'Abbé / France
After obtaining my Baccalaureate F12 in 1992, I then had the honor of entering the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d'Art -ENSAAMA in Paris.
At the end of my studies, I was lucky enough to be recruited by the French Cultural Center of Cotonou and the French Embassy in Benin, where I spent two fabulous and extremely enriching years as a graphic designer and communication manager in the framework of the National Service Cooperation.
I founded my architecture and space design studio in 2001, working for 18 exciting years as an interior architect, designer and project manager. Forerunner in wood architecture, I participated since 2005 in the implementation and local development of many achievements honored in the national trade press (c.f Portfolio).
A fan of raw materials and the famous precept "function creates form" of the American precursor Louis Sullivan, I like an architecture which proposes a simple volumetry, articulated and highlighted by the light.
Appreciated for my pencil stroke, attentive listening and interactive approach, I propose unique, harmonious and innovative projects that offer neat, optimized, functional and luminous spaces.
In 2017, I co-founded the public interest association "Une villa en urgence-Home311". This pioneering and innovative eco-solidarity project, intended for disaster victims and/or homeless people, proposes an emergency habitat designed from the recycling of refrigerated truck bodies.
Passionate about art drawing and plastic arts since I was very young, I was able to express my strong creative potential and my innate artistic sense from the age of 9 at the School of Fine Arts in Quimper, continuing at the technical high school Vauban-Kérichen in Brest in the Applied Arts section and consecutively winning 2 mentions at the Concours Général in the Plastic Arts category.
