Isobel Morris
Isobel Morris has always loved interiors, but her passion for rugs really started when she was at university. The designs are beautiful but it’s the process of the detailed craftsmanship that interests Isobel. There is a physical process behind rug creation, especially hand knotted rugs.
Following Isobel’s graduation in 2011 she spent time supporting rug designer Helen Yardley and her team at Decorex International in London. Isobel has also been part of several local exhibitions, sold pieces locally and through her website. www.isobelmorris.com
In 2014 Isobel had the chance to exhibit at DOMOTEX after her rug entitled Monarch had been shortlisted for a competition with AfghanMade. Isobel was a finalist and received her very own hand-knotted rug made in Afghanistan.
Isobel returned to DOMOTEX in 2020 when she was contacted by rug expert Michael Christie ‘The Ruggist’ to design a carpet for a collaboration between carpet manufacturer Sarawagi and yarn supplier Aquafil, using their regenerated nylon, ECONYL®. Isobel was delighted to be part of the first ever hand-knotted rug made from recycled nylon from abandoned fishing nets and discarded carpets.
