Illum Wikkelsø (1919 – 1999), born Kristian Illum Wikkelsø, was a Danish furniture architect who belonged to the generation of designers who made Danish furniture art world famous in the 1950-60’s and coined the phrase Danish Design. He drew inspiration from the Danish landscape from the clean lines and the soft waves that he created which he had found in his environment. Wikkelsø’s design is simple, elegant and inspired by natural organic forms combined with a high degree of functionality.
