Emma Rayner
Emma Rayner is inspired by all sectors of the design world, from art to fashion, but it is in creating luxurious and highly livable interior spaces that she most inspires her clients. Her background in furniture design and understanding of finishing, process and quality is the bedrock for the creative design and style of No.12.
Like her No.12 Studio cofounder Katie Earl, Emma has held a number of design roles in leading London design studios. She has completed a variety of super-prime penthouses and villas in locations such as Dubai, Istanbul and South of France. She has also delivered residential schemes in many of the capital’s most premium locations, such as 199 The Knightsbridge Apartments.
Emma’s curatorial eye and covetable address book have gained her a reputation for being able to design, make and/or source the most impactful and beautiful items for any space. Emma’s focus is on creating a curated design aesthetic that is unique. From seeking out the newest design talents at Maison et Objet to the oldest antiques seller in Pimlico, her finger is firmly on the pulse, and she has an unmatched skill in allowing each piece she sources to sing. Emma’s prerequisite is being able to back up design decisions with strong reasoning, and it is a necessity she asks of all the designers on the team.
Each designer brings out the very best in the other, their different skill sets having amalgamated through spending so much time working closely together. At a time when the market is fairly well populated with female interior designers, and particularly when it comes to solo founders with strong personal style, Emma and Katie offer an approach that prioritises contemporary elegance, functionality and beauty over ego.
