Carles Sala (Barcelona, 1980)

Carles Sala is a registered architect at COAC and member of the AA Architectural Association in London. He graduated with Honours from the ETSAB (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya) in Barcelona and later earned an MArch from the AA School of Architecture’s Design Research Laboratory in London, after being awarded by ‘La Caixa’ Foundation with a national grant for postgraduate studies.

Since 2008 he runs together with Relja Ferusic his own architectural office SALA FERUSIC Architects in Barcelona.

He directs BODEGA Research Group, under the umbrella of the AA School of Architecture in London and IAAC in Barcelona, which rephrases the process of winemaking by means of architectural design. His research career has been awarded by COAC with the Architectural Innovation Award and supported by ‘Banc Sabadell’ Foundation with a research grant.

In regards with teaching, he has worked at WSA (Cardiff University) in Cardiff as Architectural Design Tutor and he is today an Associate Lecturer in Architectural Design at the ETSAB in Barcelona as well as he leads a seminar at the Master in Advanced Architecture at IAAC in Barcelona.
