Barbara Spano’ graduated from the Universita’ La Sapienza di Roma - Italy, Facolta’ di Architettura with one year interchange at Universidade Tenica Alto de Adjuda in Lisbon – Portugal, before joining Ian Ritchie Architects office in London in 2001 where she worked on the Potters Fields Development, Residential Complex of 8 towers adjacent to the World Heritage site of Tower Bridge.
She joined Foster + Partners at the beginning of 2003 where she gained in-depth experience working in large scale projects such as Regent Place in Sydney mixed use towers, Florence High Speed Rail Station, Aldar Central Market in Abu Dhabi, and in a very small team together with the partner in charge, for the concept and scheme design of the Hotel Sochers the first 7 stars ski hotel in Italy, Trentino Val Gardena.
She has an established collaboration London-Rome with her sister Arch. Livia Spano’.
In 2013 co-founded extrArchitecture together with Maddalena Cannarsa and Giulia Galiberti
