Anna Smolens
A fine art equine and portrait photographer based on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

"At my core, I consider myself an artist. I’ve always had my toes dipped in something creative, whether it’s painting, drawing, or graphic design. In the end, photography became the medium I fell head over heels for.Aside from one class back in high school – where I developed my own film! – I am completely self-taught. My passion for photography led me to study it and learn the technical aspects so that I have the tools to create images I love.I’m told I have been obsessed with horses since I was taken to the racetrack by my Pop-Pop at age 2. As someone who has been riding since I was 6, I understand the bond we have with our horses, and can capture it in a unique way.Recently, I’ve been pushing boundaries with studio lighting. I enjoy creating timeless portraits for both horses and humans with an editorial vibe.
Life is forever changing, and I enjoy being able to stop time for even just a second, to create a memory that will always be remembered. I’m constantly looking for new ways to document horses, people, and the world around me. I love exploring different techniques and turning an everyday view into something special.

I am based on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, in Chestertown. I am happy to travel and am close to Washington D.C., Baltimore, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, and Delaware."
