> PhD of Architecture by the School of Architecture (ETSAM) of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), MArch by Princeton University (USA) where he was a Fulbright scholar. Ángel Borrego Cubero has taught at Princeton University, Pratt Institute, the University of Alicante, Keio University, the Hong Kong Design Institute and, since 2001, at ETSAM. He leads Office for Strategic Spaces (OSS), a Madrid-based architecture, art and urban research practice. For Factoria Cultural Matadero Madrid, he won the Jury Award at Madrid Architects Association's COAM Awards 2015, as well as the NAN Architecture and Construction Award to the Best Rehabilitation Project in Spain for 2016 and was selected for the Spanish Pavilion, a Golden Lion winner at the XV Biennale di Venezia in 2016. His feature documentary The Competition was awarded the First Prize at COAM Awards 2015 and the Dissemination Prize of the XIII Spanish Biennial of Architecture 2016. His research project titled La Historia de la Escuela. Una historia oral de la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (The ETSAM School of Architecture's Oral History) won the Research Prize of the XIII Spanish Biennial of Architecture 2016. In 2023, he has been selected by the Venice Biennale to make a documentary of the 1st College Architettura of the 18th Biennale of Architecture curated by Lesley Lokko. While trained as an architect, Ángel Borrego Cubero has built a body of work that connects architecture with topics such as the contemporary urban condition, the relationship between private and public space, violence, surveillance and architectural fictions. / www.o-s-s.org
