Alex Porebski
While being surrounded by architecture, art and very colorful art personalities of his parents’ friends from an early age it wasn’t until he visited the Vaucluse house, designed by Andre in 1986 that Alex’s taste for architecture developed. The post-modern home, with Escher-like staircases and double height spaces, beautifully integrated the indoors with the outdoors had that ‘wow’ factor when you walked through the front door which Alex likes to see in the houses they design.

His European trip in the early 90’s increased his interest, in particular the works of Andrea Palladio on one side and Carlo Scarpa on the other.

But it was a tour through Ricardo Boffil’s office that really captivated his interest further.
On return Alex completed his bachelor of Architecture degree at the University of New South Wales. During his studies he worked part-time at Andre’s office and was mentored by some inspirational architects. Alex has a masterful understanding of architecture and detail that remains in his work today.

He believes that good design does not come from just the architect but close involvement to understanding the client’s needs and the site. No client or site are the same and each will have individual and unique requirements. No building is finished unless it is detailed to perfection.
