Alessandro Poli, a designer, founded the i lighting brand, as well as design studio, Servomuto, along with Francesca De Giorgi, an architect, and have been designing and producing lampshades since 2007. The duo is inspired by vintage shapes researched in an archive dating back more than 50 years, and then reinterprets the old style of lampshades by adding unusual trimmings to salvaged materials such as military blankets, old velvet theater curtains or silkscreened fabrics with innovative and provocative images commissioned from artists they collaborate with.
