The Workshop
Whether it involves renovating single-family homes, transforming schools, designing furniture or objects, or working on interior architecture, the Subway Architecture workshop is constantly seeking innovative materials that integrate seamlessly into the specific environment of each project.

Minimalism and Eco-Design
With a minimalist style and a clean, contemporary design, Subway Architecture aims to optimize construction in terms of energy efficiency. This approach aligns perfectly with today’s political and civic aspirations for the development of sustainable energy.

Each project is therefore systematically designed according to its environment, which includes considerations:
• of bioclimatic principles: the orientation of the building based on energy needs, sun exposure, slope, etc.
• of the materials used: timber frames, eco-friendly materials, recent or repurposed components…
• of the techniques implemented: innovation, forward-thinking construction methods…

This adaptation to each project and its specific context leads every Subway Architecture assignment to a unique and personalized result.

SUBWAY was born from the meeting of Sébastien and Nicolas.

An experienced team with complementary skills

When they joined forces in 2006, Nicolas Janssens and Sébastien Mouffe were already seasoned professionals. Having gained significant experience working in architectural firms as collaborators, they decided to found Subway Architecture together.

The complementarity of their respective backgrounds is one of the workshop's greatest strengths:
• Nicolas Janssens is a civil engineer and architect, trained at the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve, with additional training in wood construction and carpentry, and serves as the building energy performance specialist.
• Sébastien Mouffe is an architect trained at the Institut Supérieur Saint-Luc in Liège, where he developed solid technical expertise, notably in electrical systems.
