Tololo (32), Architect, Musician, and Visual Artist Cristóbal Ugarte Parra, better known as Tololo, is a multifaceted individual who excels in various artistic disciplines. In 2017, he graduated as an architect from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, and in 2022, he embarked on a journey to Spain to pursue a master's degree in Architectural Heritage Restoration at the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
His passion for music emerged at an early age when, at 19, he released his first album of classical piano compositions titled "Analfabeto." Later, in 2017 and 2022, he collaborated with the renowned Chilean producer Cristián Heyne, resulting in two musical albums that blend elements of the classical world with the freshness of pop. In these works, Tololo incorporated his voice into the piano compositions, adding a new dimension to his artistic expression.
In addition to his foray into music, Tololo had the honor of delivering the inaugural speech at the University Cervantes auditorium during the ceremony for the prestigious Cervantes Prize in Hispanic-American Literature. This recognition was awarded to his grandfather, the Anti-Poet Nicanor Parra.
In the field of visual arts, Tololo took his first steps in 2021 by exhibiting his work at the Patricia Ready Gallery, marking his debut as a visual artist. Then, in 2023, he opened his first solo exhibition of sculptures and paintings at Factoría Franklin. This exhibition showcased ten mixed-media paintings and two marble sculptures, reflecting the diversity of his talent.
Months later, CV Galería extended an invitation to Tololo to participate in the Gallery Weekend. For this event, Tololo created a striking photographic exhibition in which he superimposed his own poems onto images captured in the city of Chicago, highlighting, among other elements, the architecture of buildings designed by Mies van der Rohe.
In the same year, Tololo was invited by Montero Art Gallery to exhibit the same series of photographs at the "Crossed Lines" show held in the city of Berlin. Tololo's artistic journey is a testament to his versatility and innovative spirit as he continues to push the boundaries of creativity in various artistic disciplines.
