ASKA

ASKA is a progressive architectural practise based in Stockholm, Sweden. The practice is run by architect Polina Sandström. ASKA was founded back in 2020 on the idea of challenging the Swedish market by creating an offer that would go beyond "mellanmjölk architecture", an expression that compares pale and safe design choices to semi-skimmed milk. By using a method of identifying and interpreting the essential qualities of each project, "the ashes", or in Swedish "aska", the studio strive to create clear, conceptual projects.
After only two years, the practice has already finalised projects for brands including haircare company Maria Nila's new headquarters and several public and commercial spaces, among others café Banacado and beauty clinic MBS. Their work has earned them international recognition and been published worldwide in leading design magazines including Elle Decoration, Architectural Digest and Interior Design. In 2022 the practice was also nominated for the “Swedens most promising young architects” award at the Swedish Architecture Gala.
