Hesselbrand
Hesselbrand is an international architectural studio established by Martin Brandsdal, Magnus
Casselbrant and Jesper Henriksson in 2014, with offices in London and Oslo. Since its establishment
Hesselbrand has become internationally recognised as a driving force within a new generation of
designers dedicated to defining a contemporary approach to architecture.
Hesselbrand’s work include a wide range of arts, cultural, hospitality and residential projects,
spanning a range of scales from furniture, interiors and temporary installations to permanent
buildings. Hesselbrand has been celebrated within the architectural community from the very
beginning, for example by being selected to design the British Pavilion at the Venice Architecture
Biennale in 2016, and are now lecturing at top institutions around the world, including the Architectural
Association, University College London, Royal College of Art, Milan Architecture Week and Victoria &
Albert Museum. The founders have taught their design philosophy at the prestigious Architectural
Association in London and are currently teaching at the London School of Architecture and Oslo
School of Architecture.
Completed projects include the exhibition design of the 2016 British Pavilion at the Venice
Architecture Biennale, a fine art gallery in London (Soho Revue Gallery), design and creative direction
of a music festival (The Tower), a prefabricated row house model for co-living (Rooms House), a
concept for a number of flexible work and cultural spaces in London, and a housing scheme for the
intergenerational homes (with Pegasus Life).
Current projects include the re-design and major renovation of a hotel with art residency in Tuscany
(Villa Lena), a spa and hotel in Switzerland, a global concept for flagship stores and temporary retail
spaces for a fashion brand (1017 ALYX 9SM), a mixed use development in London combining a
motorcycle showroom and apartments, and a number of high end residential projects in the UK,
Norway, Denmark and France.
Hesselbrand has a strong commitment to a critical design process where presumptions about space
are continuously challenged. From concept stores to apartment blocks, or from music festivals to
private homes, every type of project is united by a holistic approach to contemporary ways of life.
Hesselbrand designs for the next generation, and works to improve our everyday experience of
space.
