SUPERIMPOSE
Superimpose is not only our office name. It reflects our design technique, approach, team structure and philosophy.

Superimpose was founded in 2016 by Carolyn, Ben and Ruben and has been set-up as to be an equilibrium framework. They share alike architecture background and design methodology enrooted back to the Delft University of Technology (NL). Thereafter they respectively gained for more than 8 years of international experience in the United Kingdom, The Netherlands and China. Together the Dutch-ness and multicultural backgrounds form a symbiosis to investigate and redefine the boundaries of architecture.

Our practice has grown sustainably into boutique size with 15 designers. The team is an amalgamation and formulation of a diversity in cultures, perspectives and strengths. Superimpose has won multiple international awards, such as the Iconic Award, Design for Asia Award and the American Architecture Prize. Superimpose is based in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai.

Superimpose is a creativity driven studio. The founders continuously envision, challenge, focus, and elevate concepts throughout each phase of each design project to foster bold and striking visions.
We strongly believe in designing with contextual awareness and applying problem solving tactics. Our work is based on the most valid contextual components and we overlay them with carefully considered architecture elements. We design with the responsibility to improve, protect, recycle and sustain both our natural and built environments. Our designs enrich the context by giving back a design that adds value, aesthetic and identity to the place.
We believe design is not a sole commodity and we value all forms off collaboration, and appreciate all client input and possible inspiration.

The most recent realised projects such as Micr-O, the Re-Veil and WELL Living Lab are proven examples of our design methodology and of successful collaborations with clients.

Superimpose also values academic and public architecture education and believes in architecture as communication tool to people of different backgrounds. Our team has been involved as critique and lecturer at the AA Visiting School, Tsinghua University, The Dutch Embassy Beijing, Beijing Design Week, The Hong Kong Green Building Council, but also in the education of the younger generation such as at the Kids design week in Beijing.
