Versant Edition

More than anything, Versant Edition is a place, a region, a backdrop, a landscape. Created in the Ossau Valley in the heart of the Pyrenees Mountains, Versant Edition takes its inspiration and its originality from the mountain range and its summits as well as the valleys which surround it. A place beyond time, to just get away from it all.

Story

In 2015, at the age of forty-four, Yann Bourigault was a veteran in the international world of wine, an avid follower of design, and an ardent supporter of “Made in France”. Inspired by a move to the Pyrenees, where he discovered a region with a deeply rooted tradition of furniture making, he transformed his talents and passions into a profession. He made it his mission to bring together international designers and craftsmen from the Pyrenees to create a collection of lighting, seating, tables and shelving in a contemporary, elegant, minimalist style with a deep respect for traditional craftsmanship. Thus, Versant Edition was created in 2016.

Philosophy

Slow down. Get back to basics. Inspired by a mountain range over 40 million years old, Versant Edition has defined these ideas as its guiding principle. Respect for the past while looking to the future is a part of Versant Edition’s DNA. It can be found in the choice of materials to be crafted. It can be found in the designs which evoke different eras and it can be found in the craftsmanship of the local artisans who produce each object. A timeless collection and an exceptional final product.

Craftsmen

Woodworkers, ironworkers, chair makers, tanners, marble masons… they have lived and worked in the Pyrenees for generations. Versant Edition relies on their knowledge and know-how to produce pieces which reflect the designers’ visions as well as their own. Pieces with strong identities that are a reflection of – and named after – various aspects of the Pyrenees.
