Our concept of places, whether they are to be constructed ex novo or whether they already exist and simply require modification, is closely linked to memory and time. We believe that everything is already there to be seen and hence it is possible to rethink places and to reinvent them. The memory of the past must not be understood as the mere desire to produce a historically accurate replica of it, but should be seen as a creation that springs from the memory of classical forms and projects them into the future.
