GARCIAGERMAN ARQUITECTOS

GARCIAGERMAN ARQUITECTOS is an award-winning architecture studio founded in 2003 with offices in Madrid and Santander, Spain, and with international experience in professional work and teaching. It is currently made up by a compact team of cross-disciplinary staff (architects, engineers, quantity surveyors), led by PhD architect Jacobo García-Germán. The office is devoted to the exploitation of practical opportunities aimed at connecting the realms of built work and investigation, in the belief that architecture is an activity with cultural content that can offer an added value to the city and its inhabitants. GARCIAGERMAN ARQUITECTOS works in the connection between pragmatic and proactive architecture, between working and learning and between the local and the global, with the main intent of contributing to the urban sphere and its users. Thus, its collective efforts are directed towards the production of architectural designs with a primal interest in built work, accompanied by a prominent presence in the worlds of university and communication. The office has undertaken a total of 50 built works in multiple scales and programmes (collective residential, houses, restoration, landscape design, public space and infrastructure), for public and private clients, having obtained a total of 22 Prizes for its built work or competition proposals. Amongst these, Fuera de Serie Prize (2017), Enor Prize Selection (2017), Mies van der Rohe European Union Architecture Prize Selection (2009), Europan First Prize (2001 and 2009), Madrid Town Hall Prizes (2003 and 2007) and EMVS First Prize (2003 and 2004). The office’s work has been widely published and exhibited.
