Emilio Tuñón Architects is an international architectural practice based in Madrid. Over two decades, Emilio Tuñón (1959), together with Luis Mansilla (1959-2012), have attracted critical acclaim and awards with built projects and competitions across Europe, North America and Asia.
The quality of their designs has been recognised with some of architecture’s highest awards in Europe, including the Mies Van der Rohe Award 2007 for the M.U.S.A.C, Museum of Contemporary Art in Leon, and the National Award of Spanish Architecture 2003 for the Auditorium in León. In 2014, Emilio Tuñón and Luis Mansilla have been awarded the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts by the Spanish Government.
The work of Emilio Tuñón, since 1992, is focused on cultural projects and includes many of the most prestigious and awarded museums of Spain. All of them are located in important historical contexts and show a very sensitive approach to the culture and climate of their place, taking special care of the existing environment and urban values.
