As the star began to shine for Hera, electrical engineering was the center of interest. That was in 1934. Hera specialized in lighting 16 years later. From that moment on, lighting technology has become the shining star in the development of the company's wide array of products.
The first sensation came in 1961, when the founder of the company, Hermann Abke, developed the first fluorescent furniture light worldwide. It wasn't till the early 1980's when Hera first started looking at the halogen bulb. By taking an aggressive view, our engineers were able to develop a diverse line of halogen lighting for furniture, cabinet, ceilings and show booths.
In 1989 Dr. Dieter Abke succeeded his father Hermann Abke and has lead Hera to today's importance and size. His latest drive for self improvement was the culmination of our United States subsidiary in 1991. Since then we have developed an extensive trading relationship across the Atlantic.
Since 1998, even the TUV has acknowledged Hera's unprecedented high quality policy: For our customers' benefit, the Hera quality management system is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000. In autumn of 2001 Hera closed its three production facilities and moved into a brand new state-of-the-art factory in Enger.
Since the 1930's, "light years" have passed and valuable experience has been gathered. Today, Hera is one of the leading manufacturers in the lighting market worldwide. The product line of Hera includes a variety of innovative products for furniture, stores, show booths and rooms.
Lighting systems from Hera are distinctive, due to practical combination of pure functionality and attractive design.
