“Architecture is movement; the hypertrophy of surfaces and interfaces, of all things sensible, visible, tangible follows this path: it answers the fragmentation of the contemporary thought and its instabilities, its transparencies, adaptation to real time, manipulation of images and signs…”

The twin brothers and architects Marco and Gianluigi Giammetta were born in Rome on August 13, 1965. They graduate in Architecture from the ”La Sapienza” University in Rome in 1992. Between 1992 and 1994, while working at the architectural firm of Massimiliano Fuksas, they establish the architectural firm Studio Associato Architetti Giammetta (1993). They obtain a temporary appointment in 2003 and teach the “Allestimento2” course (both Lab and Theory) at the School of Industrial Design held at the “La Sapienza” University. Since 2006 they’ve been appointed a temporary teaching post for the “Master in Lighting Design MLD” at the DIAR Department of the “La Sapienza” University, teaching a course on the relationship between light and communication as applied to commercial spaces. In 2008 they are curators, together with six other architectural firms in Rome, at the “Uneternal City” stand presented at the 11th International Architecture Exhibition – Venice Biennale. In 2009 they start an on-going appointment at LUISS University in Rome, organizing a course on the relationship between special events and hospitality/conference structures for students attending the “Master Hospitality Management”. In the course of the same year they establish the Giammetta Real Estate s.r.l. Since 2010 they have been teaching at IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) in Rome, in charge of a course on Architecture and Communications and one on Applied Events Planning, within the “Master in Progettazione e Gestione di Eventi”. Again in 2010 the Giammettas and T’Studio co-produce the Epicentro project, presented as a special event at the 12th International Architecture Exhibition – Venice Biennale. From 2014 they carry out their professional activities through the company’s integrated design Giammetta Architects Srl. They have been invited to present their work at important universities and at numerous conferences on architecture. Furthermore, they have been invited to participate to several shows on dedicated TV channels (SKY, Alice – Work in Progress, Leonardo TV – Interni di Autore). Their projects have been published worldwide in the most prominent architectural books and magazines, such as Domus, Interni, Abitare, Ottagono, Igloo, Novum, AD, Motta Editore, Link International, L’Archivolto, etc. The Giammettas have developed important interior design for restaurants, night clubs, spas, hotels, offices, sports and conference centers. They have also developed several “format projects” for stores of the most renowned franchising networks, such as Enel si, Tim, Wind, KiPoint, Telecom, Comifar, Birra Peroni, Mail Express, City Poste, Boccadamo . They have participated to numerous national and international architectural competitions, and are currently working on the execution of several buildings, among which are a residence/cinematographic office in Budapest (Hungary), the enlargement of a deconsecrated church – now converted to a multi-function space in Viterbo (Italy), a sports center in Rome (Italy), a commercial center in Rome (Italy) and a new winery in Costanza (Romania). Since 1994, alongside their architectural activity, they have been acting as curators – as Planners and Art Directors – for conventions and special events specifically aimed at launching new products and promoting the sale networks and institutional stands for clients such as: Aci, AirOne, AIS, Alitalia, Alpha Metalcraft Corporation, Anas, Aprilia, Beretta, Bnl, Capitalia, Confagricoltura, Confcommercio, Confesercenti, Eldorado), Enel SI., Eni, Ericsson, Experian, Garante della Privacy, Ina Assitalia, Iridium, Jaguar, Mercedes, Meridiana, Ministero del Tesoro, MobilOil, Peroni, Piaggio, Poste Italiane, Procter&Gamble, Quam-Ipse, SAGIT (Algida, Eldorado), Stream, Telecom, Viasat, Wind, and many more. Their philosophy is based upon the study of the relationship between architecture and communication, and their goal is the creation of sensorial spaces to be experienced and touched.
