We believe architecture is an important tool in the creation of community, the renewal of town centres, the way we interact with landscapes, and in the way people engage with each other.

Great clients, great staff and great consultants and collaborators are the elements that make great projects. We regularly work with a team of like-minded engineers, landscape architects, quantity surveyors and planners and have a number of repeat clients. The diverse and talented in-house team that is dunn + hillam architects has worked successfully together over many years.
Good design is sustainable design.
A building doesn't have to flag itself as sustainable – it simply is. We believe in building smaller but better as the most important move towards sustainable architecture. Sustainability is always justified/expressed in environmental, economic and social terms.
Architecture is not a consumer object.
Architecture is spatial and three dimensional, how well it succeeds is based more on how it makes you feel and how well it works than on how it looks. Good architecture does not become obsolete or out of fashion. It should work with the past and anticipate the future – it contributes positively to our cities, communities, towns and landscapes in ways that are lasting and positive. Most of all it creates a sense of place, and belonging, for the people who live and work and play in it.

We have creativity and vision, we are analytical and innovative, we listen and observe, and we act accordingly. We lead and take responsibility for our projects, we understand cost control and finance, and we build. We have a diverse range of projects in our portfolio in diverse locations, from inner urban to far out regional.
We live what we believe in.
We live and work in buildings we have designed, financed and built ourselves and this is where all our ideas are first tested. We all cycle or walk to work, we believe in the symbiosis of work and life, we grow our food, aim always to consume less, and volunteer in our community.
