AFFECT-T
Affect-t is an abbreviation in closing; Affectionately often used by the artist Marcel Duchamp in his correspondence with friends and fellow artists. Projects range in scale from small cultural buildings such as libraries and performance halls, to singular residences and apartments, to large residential and infrastructural developments. The Architectural Affects which form the core design principles of the studio are a concern for Craft, Form, Environment, Site, and Sensation. These form the basis of each proposal as the studio employs continued research through design to create a unique proposals suited to the individual brief, site, and client. Each project addresses issues of site and project specificity, form and its impact on space, quality of material, knowledge of making, and sustainability.

The studio’s research through design is supported by a strong commitment to education and advocacy. In addition to built work the studio feels it has a responsibility to educate through teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels and through exhibitions and writing which explore broader architectural issues of social justice, the environment, housing, and health. The ultimate aim of the studio is to utilize design to better the experience of the individual user and broader built environment.

-We create spaces which are experienced, Affectionately.
