1PLUS1

1PLUS1 is a Riga based architectural practice representing new views on contemporary architecture, heritage, furniture and interior design. Led by a Bauhaus University Weimar graduate Martins Pilens it combines both, values of rich architectural past of the Baltics and functional honesty of European Modernism. Since its opening in 2008, the practice has been involved in projects of different size and function, including retail, office, bar, exhibition and restaurant design. Current projects of 1PLUS1 include redesign of the press room and the office for the President of Latvia in the Riga Castle, office design for the international insurance and building companies, a restaurant and a concept store in Riga. 1PLUS1 is a holder of the Latvian Architecture Award as well as several nominations and smaller design awards. Martins Pilens is also a wine importer and founder of the Modernists Magazine featuring architecture, design, art, history and modern living in the Baltics.
