Lalique
The French company Lalique was founded in 1885 in Paris by jeweller René Lalique. Today, Lalique produces a vast range of luxury products, such as barware, jewelry, perfumes, furniture, design objects and interior fixtures. Only 15 years after its foundation, Lalique had already turned out to be THE sensation at the Exposition Universelle in Paris with a record of 50 million visitors. René Lalique's innovative showcased objets made of bronze, ivory and glass paved the way for what Lalique is today: a symbol of French luxury and design. A further important step in the company's history was the year 1977 when Marie-Claude Lalique, granddaughter of René Lalique, took the helm and became leader of the company. Marie-Claude underlined the importance of the material of an object, as -according to her- richness cannot only be achieved by shape and design, but requires also the “right” material. At the beginning of the 1990s, Lalique introduced its first perfume, as the comany had always been linked to the world of fragances: at the beginning of his career, René Lalique had designed bottles for some noble houses. Today, Lalique is collaborating with a lot of influential designers, like e.g. the Iranian designer Zaha Hadid, who, up to now, has designed two vases for Lalique.
