velvetLAB
Interior Design Firm Turin / Italy
Born in 1983, Gianluca Bocchetta likes to call himself
a designer “by vocation”. Creative and expert
of interior designer, visual design, exhibit design
and communication, his works express a strong
personality and an innovative and out-of-the-common
character. A design lover by nature, he
embarked on an academic and professional
career in the world of design. And after several
collaborations with important architects and visual
merchandising professionals for the creation
of visual projects and exhibition spaces - for
famous multinational companies such as Unicredit
Banca, BMW, Volkswagen, Heineken, Coca
Cola, Vergnano and Julius Meinl, he decided to
open his own studio.
How was the idea of velvetLAB born?
«In 2011, after 9 years of work experiences, and
a good professional growth, I developed my
business idea. I wanted to realise what I had
learned, treasure the positive notions and of
what did not fascinated me, focusing on design,
communication and strategy. I dreamed a hotbed
of creatives, each with different characteristics and
concepts, at disposal of customers who sought
a stylistic solution, the construction of a space,
the development of an idea or a corporate brand
identity that could grow their productive talents.
I had in mind a creative workshop: velvetLAB.Then
the childhood dream of a space that could tell the
potential of velvetLAB. So, in 2015, the headquarters
inside the complex Loft 900, in a charming
neighbourhood in full metamorphosis, Barriera di
Milano. An area of post-industrial recovery, a popstyle
space with solutions and complements
coming from the creativity of the study: the
Casabottega».
How do you develop your projects?
«Everything comes from the feasibility analysis and
the case history of the client and his needs. We
analyse the goal to be achieved, whether it is entrepreneurial
as in the case of business space, or the
needs of an individual for residential design. Then
we develop the architectural, stylistic and ergonomic
project, choosing the right materials and shape».
The most important projects?
«Enoteca in Torino, Enoteca in Aurora di Fossano,
Spazio Donna, Uomo e Junior in Bra,Wally e Le Carni
di una Volta in Ciriè,Wood in Chieri, Little Mountain
House in Sansicario; and then the collaboration
with Fratelli Francoli, B4Hugo, Crystal Head,Torraccia
del Piantavigna. Moreover, we have also
developed company projects, such as of Rugine,
a company that operates in the world of interior
design, specialised in the use of metal (especially
cor-ten) in the field of architecture and furnishings
(www.rugine.it)».
Leitmotif?
«During the three years since the opening the project
has undergone natural metamorphosis. I
myself have acquired a more heterogeneous
know-how. Thus, it was clear we wanted to offer
the clients not just an idea, but a true proof of concept:
a complete service, a consultancy that is the
result of the creativity of my mind and of those
of the inside collaborators».
