Dinesen
Dinesen was founded in 1898 under the name Jels Savværk by Hans Peter Dinesen, a master builder. He was unable to find wood of the quality he wanted, so he started up his own sawmill. Ever since, quality has been the guiding principle in Dinesen’s production of wooden floors.

The business has been handed down from generation to generation, and is now run by Heidi and Thomas Dinesen. Thomas Dinesen is the fourth generation to run the proud family business, which changed its name to Dinesen in 1998. For many years, the sawmill produced whatever the local community asked for, but when Heidi and Thomas Dinesen took over the company in 1989, they decided to concentrate the production on floorboards.

In 1965, the company was contacted by an architect who needed unusually long floorboards as part of the restoration work on Sønderborg Castle. Jels Savværk chose Douglas and made floorboards up to 15 metres long and as wide as 45 centimetres. The order was a success and for many years Dinesen mainly produced floors for castles, manor houses and churches. Today the customer portfolio also includes fashionable housing, hotels and restaurants, both in and outside Denmark.
