SAMI-arquitectos

SAMI-arquitectos was founded in 2005 by Inês Vieira da Silva and Miguel Vieira. The office has been referred to, nationally and internationally, for work developed by teams of young architects. In this context it was included in the short list of 100 young architects of around the world recommended by Herzog & de Meuron in 2007 for the Villa Ordos100 project in Inner-Mongolia, P.R. China and was selected in Wallpaper* Architects Directory 2011 among the 20 world's most promising young practices. Besides invitations to participate in several exhibitions and conferences, namely in Portugal, Switzerland, France, Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, Spain and Japan, in 2011 they were one of the eight portuguese offices representing Portugal at the 9ª Bienal Internacional de Arquitetura de São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil. Its work has been internationally presented in specialized publication, namely in P.R. China, North Korea, Portugal, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy. It was selected for various prizes from which stands out the nomination to the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture - Mies Van Der Rohe Award 2007, Barcelona, with the building Gruta das Torres Visitor Centre, Pico Island, Azores, Portugal. 1st Prize Tektónica/OA’09 National Award, Lisbon, with Gruta das Torres Visitor Centre, Pico Island, Azores, Portugal - Inês Vieira da Silva and Miguel Vieira wan the first edition of this portuguese national Award for young architects under 35 years old. In 2011 they were nominated to the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture - Mies Van Der Rohe Award 2011, Barcelona, with C/Z House, Pico Island, Azores, Portugal. They were finalists of the FAD Awards in Temporary Interventions category with the exhibition CreativeLab Signed by Tenente, MUDE-Design Museum, Lisbon, Portugal and they were selected in Architecture category with the Interpretation Centre of World Heritage Landscape, Pico Island, Azores, Portugal. Also in 2011 they wan the 2nd Prize National Prize of Architecture in Wood 2001 Award, Lisbon, with C/Z House, Pico Island, Azores, Portugal.
