BAAS Arquitectura

BAAS is an architecture and design studio set up by JORDI BADIA in 1994, made up of professionals from different fields, to develop architectural, urban planning and interior design projects. The practice currently comprises 25 professionals, architects and interior designers, complemented by a network of external collaborators who work on aspects such as structural calculation, installations, quantity surveying and landscape architecture. The practice’s habitual fields of work are projects for public administrations and private clients, in similar proportions. Outstanding projects include the funeral services in Leon (ar+d Prize) and Terrassa, CH House in La Garriga (FAD Opinion Prize), the IBERCON corporate building in Palma de Mallorca, the law courts in Sant Boi, Ferrer i Guàrdia school in Granollers, and Can Framis Museum for the Vila Casas Foundation in Barcelona. The studio has recently completed two social housing blocks in El Papiol and Sant Vicenç del Torelló, two health centres in Salt and Badalona, and Els Gorgs secondary school in Cerdanyola, and is completing work on various buildings and several single-family dwellings. The practice is currently working on various projects, including apartment buildings in Dubai, Barcelona and Majorca, and facilities and institutional buildings such as the town hall in Montroig del Camp, the headquarters of the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre or the new premises of The MUHBA (Museum of History of Barcelona) in Poblenou district, Barcelona. BAAS has won various awards for its buildings (Premio Ciudat de Bracelona 2009) and It has been featured in numerous specialist publications (Architectural Review, El Croquis, A+U, Casabella, etc.). It has also been invited to present its work at conferences around the world (Hong Kong, Krakow, Budapest, Zagreb, Lisbon). In September 2007, BAAS was awarded the ISO 9001 quality management standard.
