ALA is a Helsinki-based architecture firm founded in 2005 seeking fresh angles, flowing forms and surprising solutions on all levels of architecture.
We challenge ourselves to provide alternatives, develop prototypes and look for innovations. We believe in creating beauty with a design approach which combines the intuitive with the analytic and the practical with the extravagant.
ALA specializes in demanding cultural buildings, unique renovation projects, station design and master planning. We currently employ 40 architects and interior architects. ALA’s most recent completed projects are the expansion and complete renovation of the modernist 1960’s City Theatre in Kuopio, Finland and the new City Theatre in Lappeenranta, Finland. our current projects include the Helsinki Central Library, five new subway stations and a depot along the western extension of Helsinki Metro, the renovation of the Finnish Embassy in New Delhi, and the renovation of the Dipoli Student Centre in Espoo.
