Bulo
Based in Mechelen, Belgium, Bulo was founded by Walter Busschop in 1963. From a modest metal filing pedestal Bulo has grown into a company that manufactures a wide range of design furniture. The current CEO Carlo Busschop is the third generation.

Bulo always creates furniture that puts design on the forefront, with the spirit of innovation that not only fulfills functional requirements, but also adds to the quality of working and living for both the individual and the organization. Our own design studio ensures timeless products and design.

The collaboration between Bulo’s internal design team and local as well as international designers such as Jean Nouvel, Alain Berteau, Vincent Van Duysen, Claire Bataille & Paul ibens and Stéphane Beel guarantees a multitude of different approaches. A large part of our collections are designed by architects. Together we use the same design language when creating our furniture, which gives it a high architectural quality.

By reediting Belgian designs from the 20th century, such as the SL collection originally designed by Belgian architect Léon Stynen in 1958 for the World Expo in Brussels and the Jules Wabbes collection by Jules Wabbes, Bulo proves to strongly believe in timeless Belgian design.

Bulo anticipates trends before the consumer is aware of his needs. This does not stop Bulo however from putting forth furniture that is personal, aesthetically pleasing and intelligent. The end result is a broad Bulo collection that is extremely diverse. By consciously relying on our own design studio, Bulo is also able to respond to the specific requirements of customers that can be translated into new work concepts and an optimal working environment. As such Bulo gives shape to its socio-economic role: design is not synonymous with excess, but of a way to work better, to live better.

With the support of Bosq, our sister company specialized in wood veneers and carpentry, Bulo can deliver bespoke pieces with exceptional quality. With skill and love for the craft for over 50 years, Bulo remains true to creating beautiful, innovative furniture that inspires and supports its environment.
