mOa - Mario Occhiuto Architetture

Mario Occhiuto Architecture, mOa, is an architecture and engineering studio with branches in Rome, Cosenza and Beijing. The activity, coordinated by Mario Occhiuto, includes architectural and urban projects, restoration and upgrading of environmental and architectural heritage, up to design and interior design projects. The staff is composed of 30 members and consultants of diverse professional skills- architects, engineers, restorers, graphics professionals and communication officers, all with one mission: integrate new projects with the protection of cultural heritage according to the complex sustainability principles, considered to be the answer to the need for quality in the contemporary design, with the aim of improvement of local identities. The main principle of each project is integration with the context, technological innovation, environmental sustainability, livability and space accessibility- especially for the weakest individuals- the project aesthetics combined with functional efficacy, that helps achieve an original inspiration, case by case, ignoring all trends. Among the main projects, the project for a residential district of 1100 energy efficiency apartments for the Science and Technology Ministry in Beijing; the winner in public Competition for the Design and restoration of former industrial pavilions of the World Exposition Shanghai China 2010 also selected by Sustainab.Italy, the London Architecture Biennale 2008; the new office building of the Chinese Ministry of Environment (SEPA) recently inaugurated in Beijing -4C building; the restoration od Cosenza’s Cathedral, the project of the Italian garden in Tianjin, selected by the 11th International Architecture Exhibition of Venice, 2008; the study group –coordinated by the Department of Cultural Activities- for the conservation project of the Taihe Pavilion in the Forbidden City in Beijing; the new Huai Rou Masterplan commissioned by the city of Beijing; the restoration of the Competition Building in Rome; the activities inside the Quirinale Palace in Rome and the President’s Castelporziano estate.
