HansjörgGöritzArchitekturstudio is a highly ranked and internationally recognized studio. Since its founding 25 years ago it provides full master planning, architecture and design services for public and private challenges. The studio was founded by Hansjörg Göritz in 1986 as workshop for an open-ended exploration of spaces' essential perceptive qualities rendered exquisitely simple. Beginning with precise typologies independent from trend and style enables the creation of unexpected complex and rich spaces for any challenge or ideal. Design quality influences as well as expresses or lives quality, considering that decisive simplicity and complex perception are of inseparable unity - proving that the simple way is never the easy way. Hansjörg Göritz work emphasizes on essentials of place, space light and material. on the timeless phenomena of space in its perceptive qualities, and is associated with pure and minimalist architecture. This self-committed attitude for the highest demands in contextual environment, expression, structure, materialization and detailing is incorporated by significant contributions to the society. Enduring and timelessly lasting projects, devoid of ephemeral style, have achieved important recognitions. Some 70 invited lectures, more than 30 exhibitions and solo exhibits, numerous prestigious national and international awards, including 20 awards and selections among some 50 architectural competitions, more than 300 publications reflect its contributions, among them Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Berliner Zeitung, Neue Zürcher Zeitung and the book Young German Architects. In 1996 Hansjörg Göritz was awarded one of the mot prestigious awards in Germany, the Promotional Award 'Baukunst' to the Kunstpreis Berlin by the Berlin Academy of Arts. His work received BDA awards in Lower Saxony in 1994, the national Deubau Award for Young Architects 1994, the national Brick Award 1996 and a trustees nomination for the Erich Schelling Award 1998. The entry for the German National Pavilion for the EXPO 2000 fairgrounds succeeded as finalist among 350 international entries, and on EXPO-line the internationally-renown blue rail station Nordstadt emerges - a contribution to the 6th Biennale di Architettura in Venice, Italy 1996. Since 1998 the studio is nationally ranked among the top 100 firms, and since 2008 in the international top 1000. The work is selected by renowned institutions such as the Aga Khan Trust, and Bundesstiftung Baukultur [German National Foundation for Built Culture] to their collections as paradigms of excellence in dealing with conventions. The recent Liechtenstein National Forum and Assembly is featured as a Liechtenstein postage stamp on the series on contemporary architecture, and is recognized by the Deutsches Architekturmuseum Frankfurt [German National Architecture Museum] for the German Architecture Award as one of the best German architectures abroad. For this project Hansjörg Göritz was honored with his most prestigious accolade as the prime laureate for international Brick Award 2010, previously held by Peter Zumthor for his Kolumba Museum in Cologne 2008. Current projects include private residences, a settlement of town-garden-houses, a loft-tower, the Timber Market Square in the Baroque city of Wolfenbuettel, and the design for the Knoxville Botanical Gardens and Arboretum in East Tennessee.
