Fatboy's success story began in 1998 when Finnish designer Jukka Setälä designed and produced the famous The Original Fatboy Ottoman, now a design icon. In 2002, Dutchman Alex Bergman bought the rights to the ottoman and founded the company based in Den Bosch, the Netherlands. Fatboy designs and manufactures indoor and outdoor furniture and accessories characterized by their original and fun-loving design. The company currently markets its products in more than 50 countries and continually renews its catalog thanks to collaborations with emerging international talents. Fatboy's iconic product is still The Original Fatboy Ottoman, an oversized rectangular beanbag chair. Made from durable, water-resistant, fire-retardant nylon fabric, it is filled with precisely 3,542,897 polystyrene beads to ensure maximum comfort. Original can be used as an outdoor or indoor chair, as a small day bed or paired with the Rock'n'roll rocking chair. The beanbag is also available in the Original Junior version for children, Original Outdoor, Original Stonewashed in cotton, and about twenty colors.
Another celebrated Fatboy product is the Edison lamp designed by the DeMakersVan collective and inspired by Thomas Edison's light bulb.
