BIG’s courtscraper is breaking ground! A new drone video released by Darkhorse shows construction progress at the site for what will soon be Bjarke Ingels’ first NYC construction.
VIA at West 57th street is described as a hybrid between a Manhattan skyscraper and the traditional European perimeter block. The building will boast both the lightness and panoramic views of a high-rise along with the compactness and efficiency of a courtyard building.
The shape of the building varies depending on the viewer’s vantage point. From the West Side Highway, it will take the shape of a pyramid, but when looking at it from West 58th street, it will appear to be an imposing glass spire.
From the footage, we can already tell that this structure will serve as a dramatic element of the NYC cityscape. What do you think of this new addition?
