Little Gerla is the new Limited Edition designed by Paolo Ulian and Moreno Ratti. Created from a restored 40×40 marble tile, it sticks to a project which ennobles scraps of marble successfully undertaken some time ago by the two designers.
What can we get from a modest size scrap of marble? By cutting these thin residues with a machine which uses waterjet technology, and assembling the pieces without creating waste, the chances of obtaining design objects are endless: Ulian and Ratti were able to wisely relinquish the different solutions to propose this piece.
Little Gerla is a collection of four pots obtained by four different forms taken from a single recovered marble tile. Thanks to waterjet technology, the tile is divided into four equal pieces and cut out: each piece is one of the rings that will make a vase by thin and smooth gauges. It is a design object that, although characterized by the typical texture of marble, is incredibly lightweight.

Ottenuta dal recupero di una marmetta 40×40, tiene fede al progetto che nobilita gli scarti dei marmi intrapreso da tempo con successo dai due designer.
Cosa possiamo ottenere da uno scarto di marmo di modeste dimensioni ripescato in magazzino? Tagliando questi residui sottili con una macchina a tecnologia waterjet ed assemblandone i pezzi senza creare scarti di materiale, le possibilità di ottenere oggetti di design sono infinite: Ulian e Ratti hanno saputo declinarne con sapienza le differenti soluzioni fino a proporre quest’ultimo tassello della loro ricerca.
Little Gerla è una collezione di quattro vasi ottenuti da quattro forme differenti ricavate da un’unica marmetta di recupero. Grazie alla tecnologia waterjet, la marmetta viene divisa in quattro pezzi uguali e ritagliata: ciascun pezzo è uno degli anelli che andranno a comporre un vaso dagli spessori sottili e levigati, un oggetto di design che pur caratterizzato dalla tipica texture marmorea è di incredibile leggerezza.
