The new magnet and a new work to relaunch the sector of congress events will be handed over to Rome by January 2013: it is the New Conference Centre designed by Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas' architecture office (Studio Fuksas).

The construction in progress will be completed in the historical Eur district and when finished will occupy around 55,000 square metres. In spite of the project concept leading back to three fundamental elements: the Container, the Cloud and the hotel “blade”, the main feature of the building remains the Cloud.

The Cloud structure which will house a 1850 seat auditorium, a restaurant and the auditorium services is an undefined structure without precise rules. When completed, the structure, made with a metallic skeleton, will be covered with a transparent sheet before going onto the container with its finishings and systems.

A conditioning system with a variable airflow will help give the building an efficient energy consumption while the installation of a photovoltaic system on the roof of the container will facilitate the use of solar energy in line with the energy saving guidelines.

Therefore, the conclusion of this great work of architecture, which stands out not only for its functionality but also for having embraced the principles of engineering and environmental sustainability, is eagerly awaited.

The New Conference Centre will also be the subject of discussion at the conclusive engagement of the "Roma Metropoli. 6 Conversazioni di Architettura Contemporanea" event, to be held at the Auditorium of the MAXXI on 26th May and will include a meeting with Massimiliano Fuksas.
