Downtown Design is an international design trade fair of select quality brands exhibiting products, trends and concepts never-before seen in the region.

Organized by the visionary team behind Art Dubai and Design Days Dubai — two of the region’s most successful annual fairs — Downtown Design is the premier venue in the Middle East to showcase the very best in furniture, lighting, accessories, textiles and new technologies. Emphasizing quality, innovation and research, the fair aims to highlight contemporary, yet timeless, values in a creative atmosphere to a captive audience.

Providing a unique platform to give international brands access to the rapidly growing market of the Middle East & North Africa (MENA), Downtown Design is a place where design professionals can enhance their business. Through an extensive programme of seminars, face-to-face meetings and special events, Downtown Design brings key regional decision-makers, business partners and international design companies to the table to examine market trends and to strengthen trade in the region.

Downtown Design will also be hosting the inaugural Harper’s Bazaar Interiors Awards, taking place as part of the official Downtown Design 2014 programme. The awards will be taking place on the 29th October, and will recognise and reward the most successful products, brands and designers in commercial interior design. The event will feature 12 award categories, ranging from statement lighting and textiles to fashion-inspired furniture and new technologies.

The awards demonstrate the growing interest in designers and commercial interior design in the region, recognizing and rewarding the most successful products, brands and designers in commercial interior design whist celebrating the most promising emerging talent both locally and internationally.

The entries for each category will be short-listed by an impartial judging panel that will include an internationally-renowned designer, an accomplished creative director and Harper’s Bazaar Interiors editor in chief, Rue Kothari. Further voting will be conducted online, where readers will be able to vote for their favourite in each category.

The awards categories include: Best Lighting Brand, Best Textile Brand, Best Furniture Brand, Best Outdoor, Best Tableware, Most Innovative Brand, Best Technology Brand, Most Eco-Conscious Brand, Best Fashion to Furniture Brand, Best Kitchen Design, Best Bathroom Design and Best Emerging Design.
