DESIGN_ LA PHILIE by the german artist Evelyn Bracklow is art and design and the love for extraordinary and elaborate products. The first line of LA PHILIE, named Chitins Gloss, entails vintage porcelain, hand-painted with ants.

 - How it came to your mind?

- The idea for this work resulted from pure chance, when the sight of a carelessly placed plate - by then wandered by ants - fascinated me so much that I felt the urge to simply conserve this image. Fear, disgust, fascination and admiration: This very interplay of feelings constitutes the charm of the work. Furthermore, to me, the ants symbolize all the stories that any formerly discarded piece of porcelain carries with it. Where one once dined and drank, today ants bustle in ever new formations, every single one applied with a great love for detail.

- How your work began?

- I first started presenting and selling my work on local design markets in and around Dortmund. The feedback was amazing! So I realized - I have to make something out of it. Last year I created my lable LA PHILIE to show my products to a wider public. After appearing on several blogs, I got more and more recognition from people around the globe. Today I sell my products to the US, France, England, Russia and many more countries. At the moment everyday work for me means answering mails, looking for knew china porcelain, packing packets, taking care of there transport and finally painting... My latest project was (besides to five others) to design a unique item to celebrate the new partnership between Etsy and The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, which will be promoted in nearest future. I created wallplates with detail from the Rijksstudio, combined with ants from the series Chitins Gloss, realized as edition of 10 pieces.
