03/10/2013 - Over 2000 attendees have gathered in Singapore from over 68 countries for three days of live crits, parties and seminars from some of the world's best-known architects. The World Architecture Festival is the world’s largest festival and live awards competition dedicated to celebrating, and sharing architectural excellence from across the globe.
On the first day of the WAF, the winners of 15 award categories were announced. They included the display category which saw 3XN Architects come out on top with the aquarium The Blue Planet and last year's World Building of the Year winners Wilkinson Eyre Architects, who this year won the Higher Education and research category with the University of Exeter: Forum Project with its landscaped entrance plaza. Other winners included Wingårdh Arkitektkontor AB with Sweeden's first environmentally certified shopping centre Emporia in the Shopping category.
