The new Alitalia lounge area "Dolce Vita",  whose project is a collaboration between Robilant Associati and Paolo Castelli S.p.A has been officially opened in Rome at Terminal 1 of the Leonardo da Vinci Airport at Fiumicino.

The new space, which occupies an area of 700 square meters inside the airport, involves the collaboration of leading Italian brands such as B&B Italia, MDF Italia and Prandina.

Within this new space, the aviation component is enhanced by the stylized recovery of original pieces of aircraft like the nose cones transformed into floor lamps or the MD80 Radome which has been transformed into a hanging lamp, the welcome-desk and the housing of the multitouch screen made with an engine air intake. The characteristic element of Dolce Vita is the “Green Tube”, an internal structure in the shape of the fuselage of a plane illuminated by Loft F31 lamps by Liselotte Captein and Robert Admiraal.

The room is divided into two main areas designed to optimise traffic flows: the refreshment and relaxation area, located to the left of the entrance, and the servicing, check-in and ticketing area, to the right of the entrance.

The relaxation area is made up of a few pieces of furniture designed by Patricia Urquiola like the Sofa Paradise area with the Bend-Sofa, the Orbit tables of the Sintesi collection and the flow chair by Jean-Marie Massaud. Among the gems of this new project, the flight simulator and an office area equipped with tablets and wireless printers.
