"J+I - 6 Japanese designers and famous Italian Artisans", by Fuorisalone Sarpi Bridge. 6 Japanese women, established designers who live in Europe, in collaboration with major Italian Artisans produce refined prototypes and tell the story of the artisan companies involved and their processing cycles. Exhibition date: 9 – 14 April 2013 Venue: via Sarpi / Sarpi Bridge, Oriental Design Week.

Those designers are Sakura Adachi, Tomoko Azumi, Kazuyo Komoda, Kuniko Maeda, Kaori Shiina and Shinobu Ito. The companies involved are: Riva 1920, Consorzio vetro di Murano, Sampietro 1927, Giordano Viganò, Fonderia Artistica Campagner.

Kaori Shiina has initiated this collaboration of J+I.  5 other Japanese designers have gathered around her and started to discuss about their first exhibition, one of the Fuori Salone at Salone Internatioal del Mobile in 2013.

“J+I” is a project to generate and search new horizon of design, through connecting contemporary design thinking and traditional craftsmanship.  6 designers, who love to visit factories and meet great craftsmen, have kicked off their design projects.
