The Fondazione Musica per Roma and the IMF Foundation present a brand new exhibition: DOS Disegnare Oggetti Sonori. Curated by Domitilla Dardi and Elisabetta Pisu, it is the first international exhibition on the relationship between design and sound.
DOS is an exclusive journey among products, installations and performances, featuring great international designers whose research focuses on sound - also the source of inspiration for their artistic creations.
An original way to describe the other side of design: not only beauty and utility but – especially in recent times - its appeal to the senses. Sight gives way to hearing that in turn inspires the designer.
Sound “art works” embody instinct and naturalness. The observer enjoys a new perspective, he can discover new, more active and multisensory ways to relate to the objects. Because “things” are alive, they "speak" their own language and unveil a soul made of sounds. The recreational as well as the technical and functional aspect brings us to a new reality.
The space in which we are all immersed talk to us, the vibrations emanated by these unique objects transform it into a perceptive and experiential dimension. Loudspeakers by great past and present names as Castiglioni, Zanuso and Starck will feature in the exhibition and Kef Muon loudspeakers by Ross Lovegrove will be presented in Italy for the first time. Also on display innovative and experimental musical instruments as the Airpiano by Omer Yosha, everyday objects as the kettle by Sapper for Alessi, and the original personalized door bells by Munari and Mosconi at the exhibition “Invece del campanello” (Instead of a door bell).
Besides, artistic installations by Ferreri, Quiet ensemble and Mischer'Traxler, and the new ideas by young international talents working on sound, noise and silence in an exceptionally new way. The exhibition will also include a programme full of fringe activities: performances and didactic workshops as the project “Colour Chaser” by Japanese sound designer Yuri Suzuki.
Admission is free for all the visitors; the exhibition will take place in the Auditorium - Parco della Musica foyer.
In the same days AuditoriumArte – Auditorium's area dedicated to art - will host the solo exhibition by Swiss sound artist, curated by Anna Cestelli Guidi.
