Imm Cologne competition [D³]design talents repeats the success of the past editions with 671 products submitted from more than 40 countries, convincing evidence of the competition's international standing.
The contest is only open to design students and designers who graduated less than three years ago. For many entrants, the imm Cologne is thus the first major stage where they can present themselves to an international audience. Held by Koelnmesse and organised in collaboration with the German Design Council, the competition's professionalism and favorable parameters make it extremely popular with many young designers.
The award winning entries from the [D³] Contest 2012 have been the organic shapes of Gravity Stool by Jólan van der Wiel, Listen to your hand, the multiple drawers chest, created by Lee Sanghyeok and the modular system of lights, Apollo, designed by the London-based studio International (Marc Bell and Robin Grasby).
Next to the designs by the participants in the [D³] Contest, [D³]Young Professionals offers the opportunity for young and independent designers and design studios to present their ideas to a wide audience and to achieve herewith contacts to the industry and the retail business. The third element of [D³] is the [D³] Schools format. This year ten universities and schools present their projects from the fields of interior design, architecture and product design to give proof of their creative potential.
Therefore imm Cologne launched in January 2011[D³] Alumni, an online directory for all designers, products, universities, projects and installations that have been on show in Cologne in the last years.
Of the 671 entries submitted for this year's [D³] Contest, 21 products by 27 designers have been selected for the exhibition in Pure Village.
