It was only a matter of time before Dame Zaha made her swoopy mark on The Big Apple, and now, after much anticipation, the apartments in her 520 West 28th Street structure are finally up for grabs. The first batch of renderings depict luxury loft-like apartments inside a striking, sculptural exterior in true keeping with Hadid’s unmistakable style. The price for living in Zaha Hadid’s vision of modern living? Apartments start at $4,950,000 and go up to a cool $50 million for the penthouse.

The 11-story development will be composed of 39 residences spread out over 21 floors, each one featuring a sprawling floor plan and towering ceilings. Located in Chelsea and peering over the High Line, the exterior is a stark departure from the rectilinear structures which form its surroundings. The defining, hand-rubbed, metallic façade divides each residence as it curves its way around the structure, joining interiors and exteriors in a singular, seamless movement.

Each interior space of 520 West 28th was individually designed by Hadid to mimic the curvy aesthetic of the façade. Renderings depict defining elements like sculptural walls, modern design pieces, and a kitchen created by Zaha Hadid and Boffi. Over-the-top amenities include an IMAX theatre, private spa, sky-lit pool, and secure parking portals.

Considering the unique design, opulent interiors, and luxury amenities, is the privilege of living in Zaha Hadid’s first NYC building worth the hefty price tag? Peruse the renderings and sound off in the comments below.

Those dotty reflections on the glass are amazing. Would be sweet seeing it as an installation.
