Skara International Architecture and Management SL was formed in 2012 by a group of like-minded Architects, designers and Project Managers who have been collaborating together on many international projects. Our unyielding vision is: to compose and sculpt original architectural structures, to shape there space, to create environments that captivate. Our ethos is: the architecture we conceive should arouse, awaken and inspire; the space must invigorate through balance, form, simplicity, substance and style; the environment must adapt, develop, enhance and sustain all the individuals who use it. We believe that ‘Architecture’ should closely integrate with its surroundings and for this reason we always explore the vital relationship between architecture, art, design, culture, environment and the build-ability of our concepts. A building revolves around the people who use them: it is not merely an architectonic shape or a statement of the practise or owner. Functionality – meeting the specific needs of the user – is paramount. Every project we undertake goes through these explorations and must generate complicity with its position, use and environment. Skara believes that architecture, as a profession, relies on understanding historical architectural movements, research, experimentation and originality. Skara is continuously finding new ways to combine these issues, in compelling and thought-provoking ways. Great things can happen, as history shows, when an architect and an artist have the opportunity to fuse their visions together from the beginning and their collaborative imaginations are given the fertile ground to permit the visual excitement to go beyond the norm. It’s our philosophy that our projects are consciously interrelated with their urban, shoreline, wilderness or open spaces and the context of our architecture must go past the mundane, in search of the ideal. An integral part of the procedure is the particular emphasis on the designs we produce to use as much of what nature gave us; light, space, sun, water and air. In our urbanised society we must keep our impact on the environment and humanity to the minimum while creating a ‘work of art’. Skara’s architects, designers and artists are essentially the eyes, ears and heart of our company and as such our architecture is based on developing buildings which open themselves up to let the outside world in.
