Robben BAI, Founder and principle architect of RoarcRenew

After graduation from the Design Department of East China Normal University, Robben BAI plied his trade at Haim Dotan Architects, during which period he has participated in the design of reconstruction of the Israel Pavilion of Shanghai World Expo, Zhangjiajie glass bridge, DreamWorks of Music Drama at Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts and international projects like Residential renovation of AlarmRaya, Indonesia and reconstruction of Sun Tower in Spain. In 2016, he established RoarcRenew, an architectural atelier that focuses on urban renewal, space reengineering, remodeling of old districts, with the aim to create a sustainable urban space, and respect forrevolutionary design and the history of architecture with a innovative thinking.

RoarcRenew is an architectural atelier focuses on practice with experimental spirit. Paying ultimate attention to essense of architectures should be the core of a design.
In practices, we explore the unknown with a great curiosity. RoarcRenew encourage designers to think differently in the process of finding forms and functions of an architecture. RoarcRenew will not limit the designs with any principles but working out innovative ideas with a focus on essense of the architectures.
Focusing on renewing projects is a natural choice for RoarcRenew in the context of everchanging economy. It is our value that the origional design will not tie our hands, neither designing rules nor form itself.
Sincelaunching of its first urban reconstruction poject for co-working space in Mixpace Mandela, RoarcRenew has received worldwide media recognition. Robben BAI was nominated as one of the Creative Talents 100+ 2017 by Domus China magazine, and he also made the list of 30 Under 30 by Forbes China in 2019.
