Il cuBed loft è stato realizzato per un concorso che aveva come tematica il progetto di un appartamento delle dimensioni di 70 mq con un’unica finestra, situato nella zona est di Londra. Il concept del cuBed loft nasce quindi dall’esigenza di creare uno spazio abitabile che riesca a sfruttare un’unica fonte di luce naturale senza alterare però la funzionalità e la fruibilità degli interni. La scelta che caratterizza e da il nome al progetto è stata quella di collocare la camera da letto al centro dello spazio, come fulcro del loft, sospendendola in un cubo di 33 metri cubi; cuBed infatti riassume i concetti di forma CUBica, e di BEDroom, camera da letto. Il cubo, essendo sospeso e a 60 cm di altezza dal pavimento, è raggiungibile mediante un sistema telescopico di gradini a scomparsa. L’appartamento è distribuito su due livelli, uno con cucina e bagno e l’altro col soggiorno, collegati da una scala a sei gradini che ha la doppia funzione di zona di passaggio e arredo, poiché può essere rivestita da cuscini e diventare una lunga seduta. Il cubo della camera da letto fa da filtro ai due ambienti. La cucina, composta da un piano di lavoro e da una parete attrezzata, è affiancata ad una cabina/armadio che funge anche da spogliatoio e dal bagno. Le stanze si affacciano sul foyer d’ingresso dove si trova un’ampia armadiatura a muro sul lato opposto. Il soggiorno, con arredi modulari e una lunga libreria a parete, incornicia l’ampia finestra panoramica che, illuminando l’intero loft, si affaccia sulla City. Il loft è dotato di un innovativo sistema di condizionamento e riscaldamento che consente in ricircolo e il ricambio d’aria nei mesi estivi e invernali. The cuBed loft was realized for a contest that had as its theme the project of an apartment of 70 square meters with a single window, situated in the east of London. The concept of the cubed loft tcomes from the need to create a living space that is able to leverage a single source of natural light but does not change the functionality and versatility of the interiors. The choice that characterizes and gives its name to the project has been to put the bedroom in the middle of the space, as the centerpiece of the loft, suspending it in a cube of 33 cubic meters, cubed in fact summarizes the concepts of CUBic shape and BEDroom. The cube is suspended at 60 cm above the floor and it can be reached by a telescopic system of retractable steps. The apartment is on two levels, one with kitchen and bathroom and the other with the living room, connected by a staircase in six steps, which has the dual function of the transition zone and furniture, as it can be covered with pillows like a long sitting. The cube of the bedroom acts as a filter to the two environments. The kitchen consists of a work plan and a wall unit, it is used with a cab/cabinet that also serves as a dressing room and bathroom. The rooms overlook the entrance foyer where there is a large closet to the wall on the opposite side. The living room, with modular furnishings and a long wall bookcase, framing the large picture window, illuminating the entire loft, overlooking the City. The loft is equipped with an innovative cooling and heating system that allows for recirculation and the air circulation in the summer and winter months.
