The arrival experience is of paramount importance and is the beginning to the hotel’s story. We were invited to transform the public areas using the Luxury Collection brand to create an indigenous, individual and luxurious space. Natural organic references have been used throughout to achieve a timeless enduring interior which is relevant, authentic and uplifting.
A feature wall has been created using burnished gesso in warm silver and coppered bark overlaid with a gentle abstract design in silver leaf inspired by the meandering pathways of Hyde Park.
Faceted antiqued mirror disguises the bulkhead above reception and reflects the delicate waterfall like chandelier hanging from the platinum and white gold leafed coffer. An installation of porcelain flowers drifts across the wall behind reception.

Accessed from the Lobby a gracious circular lounge has been created at the core of the hotel. Inspired by the flora of the Royal Hyde Park opposite, the silk lined walls are decorated with a grove of hand painted magnolia trees embellished with custom embroidered flowers. To enhance the installation, delicate birds and butterflies have been hand painted on the walls and adorn the custom shades of the wall lights.
A huge hand carved rug sets the tone of luxury for the salon. As an internal space with no natural light, the use of mirror and reflection is key to its success. A large brass framed screen has gold and silver leaf eglomise panels echoing the design to the walls. Soft reflection is provided by the antique mirror to the bespoke tables and the use of large mercury glass table lamps. Fine quality leather, deep pile mohair and intricate cut velvets in a palette of celadon, create a peaceful and serene ambience.

Hyde Park Bar
The brief was to provide a discreet piano bar with echoes of a handsome, masculine cigar lounge. Feedback from guests had indicated that the bar area lacked privacy from the lift lobby and no longer met their expectations of luxury and comfort.
Reinstating a sense of indulgent elegance was high on the list of priorities as this area needed to assume a discerning air of glamour, for in the evenings; this is a destination bar for those in the know.

Inspired by the timeless detailing of the traditional English saddle-smith, leather is the predominant upholstery. A palette of ivory and taupe has highlights of embossed leather; the colour of a reassuringly expensive malt whisky. The generously proportioned furniture pieces are contemporary interpretations of classical designs. Traditional details are used to reflect the historical origins and traditional skills that have been employed. Deep buttoning and hand applied decorative nailing illustrate the quality of the manufacture and create a feeling of luxury and longevity.
The snaffle inspired carpet is also inspired by a traditional and very British reference. The scale and restrained colour palette make this a modern interpretation within a traditionally English environment.

The dark stained mahogany booths have personal belled service ensuring that needs are met quickly and effortlessly. Mirror panelled screens increase the scale of the area and provide the delineation between the bar and the main Lobby whilst the subtle integration of horsehair panels assist with the absorption of noise and soften the sound.

A soft feature curtain diffuses the light at the window but also creates a reflective sparkle in the room. These custom woven metal drapes dress the windows providing privacy and are undeniably chic.

Hand made porcelain lights suspended over the bar give a gentle focus whilst the architectural lighting enhances the mood for relaxation.

Knightsbridge Lounge
Accessed from the Reception Lobby a gracious circular lounge has been created at the core of the hotel. Inspired by the flora of the Royal Hyde Park opposite the silk lined walls are decorated with a grove of hand painted magnolia trees embellished with custom embroidered flowers. To enhance the installation delicate birds and butterflies have been hand painted on the walls and adorn the custom shades of the wall lights.

A huge hand carved rug was commissioned and installed wall to wall to set the tone of luxury for the salon. The use of mirror and reflection in this area is key to its success as an internal space with no natural light. A large brass framed screen has gold and silver leaf magnolias eglomise panels echoing the design to the walls. Soft reflection is provided by the antique mirror to the bespoke tables and the use of large mercury glass table lamps. Fine quality leather, deep pile mohair and intricate cut velvets in a palette of celadon and create a peaceful serene ambience.

The Magnolia Lounge will provide Knightsbridge with an elegant relaxation space and a new location for Afternoon Tea.
